Mission

The Friends of the Library of Tampa-Hillsborough County, Inc. is an organization of citizens who share a passionate commitment for a strong library system. The Friends of the Library work to expand the network of libraries, strengthen the library collections and support a varied menu of programs for the citizens of our community.

Most libraries in Tampa-Hillsborough County have a Friends organization supported by membership dues. They elect officers and hold regular meetings. In addition, many libraries have bookstores where they collect and sell donated books, magazines and movies. The proceeds from these bookstores provide much needed funding for library programs that benefit citizens of all ages.




This organization is exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code since March 1967, EIN Number 59-6174497.
