January 2000
"...that the Library Board allow unfiltered computers at the Main Library (John Germany Public Library) and regional facilities, depending upon the availability of staff to monitor, and to filter in all other facilities with WebSense Sex 1 and Sex 2, with Management making the decision regarding the number and placement of computers in each facility." (Blue/Hearns) Vote- 8-0 in favor.

March 2000
After reviewing the changed areas ,the proposed Policies & Bylaws as amended were approved unanimously.
After discussion of a recent newspaper article noting Eleanor Howland's retirement as Director of the Temple Terrace Public Library, Ian Greig motioned that a letter of commendation be sent honoring and thanking Mrs. Howland for her dedicated and excellent service to library users.Anniece Ross seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
April 2000
Sandra Cameron asked if everyone had read the Library Notes issue that was included in their mailings. She referred to the article congratulating long-time staff members. After a brief discussion, it was motioned by Ms. Cameron that individual congratulatory letters on behalf of the Board be written to the Library recipients. Anniece Ross seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
May 2000
Ian Greig moved that the Board form a subcommittee including the Friends of the Library to attend the Cultural Arts District Task Force meetings. Anniece Ross seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
June 2000
William Scheuerle moved that the Board maintain the CIP (Capital Improvement Projects) list as is and give Joe Stines the flexibility to recommend the two size models described in the list. Seconded by Helen Swisshelm. Motion passed unanimously.
Ian Greig made the motion to draft a letter to Ron Rotella requesting a seat on the Cultural Arts District Steering Committee with copies forwarded to Rene Williams, Dan Kleman and Mayor Greco. Helen Swisshelm seconded. Motion passed unanimously.
July 2000
William Scheuerle recommended (read from last month's minutes) that the Board reappoint Sandra Cameron, Chair; Anniece Ross, Vice Chair, and William Scheuerle, Secretary. The Chair then asked for nominations from the floor. There were none. Liz Blue moved that the nominations be accepted as put forth to the Library Board. Anniece Ross seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
August 2000
Ian Greig made the motion that the proposed distribution plan for the surplus ad-valorem tax be adopted without change. Mrs. Swisshelm stated that the joint committees had made the recommendation that the Library Board accept the proposal and that no second was needed.
Helen Swisshelm made a motion to consider the proposed dress code policy after the County Attorney has reviewed it. William Scheuerle seconded. The vote was unanimous.
September 28, 2000
Sandra Cameron asked for a motion to accept the Internet Policy that has been reviewed by the County Attorney's Office. Bill Scheuerle so moved. Mary Sherman seconded.
Dora Reeder made the motion that the Northwest Regional Library be named the Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library. Liz Blue seconded. Discussion followed. Motion passed 7-0.
October 2000
Helen Swisshelm made a motion to write Commissioner Norman a letter thanking him for his support of the library after the November 15 BOCC meeting.
Mr. Greig made a motion to that effect and added that the letter should be ready for approval by the Library Board at the next meeting. Bill Scheurele seconded the motion. The motion was amended to include that the Chairman of the Library Board draft a letter stating the desire of the Board for the John F. Germany Library, the main library, to remain in its current facility. It was suggested that library staff draft the letter to be sent to Mayor Greco and County Administrator, Daniel A. Kleman and that the Board direct staff to continue working with the Cultural District Ad Hoc Committee to develop a full analysis.
Ian Greig restated his motion: "Send a letter stating that the main library is not moving, stipulating the reasons and requesting a representative from the Library Board on the City's committee." The Cultural Ad Hoc Committee will review the letter for immediate mailing. The motion was seconded by Bill Scheurle and passed unanimously.
Helen Swisshelm made the motion to direct staff to work with the Cultural District Ad Hoc Committee to complete a report and pursue through the Library Director and the County Administrator presentation of that report to the Board of County Commissioners. Dora Reeder seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
November 2000

December 2000
Helen Swisshelm made the motion that a letter be sent to Commissioner Norman thanking him for advocating for the additional $5 million. Anniece Ross seconded the motion.
Elizabeth Blue made the motion to name the meeting room at the Jan K. Platt Library after Mrs. Touchton's parents. Dora Reeder seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
