Budget Committee:

The Budget Committee makes a monthly review of the library's expenditures and each winter works with library staff to develop the annual budget. The committee helps to rank and prioritize projects and services. Unfunded capital needs are prioritized. The committee reviews the library's budget before it is submitted to the County Administrator. Planning Committee: The Planning Committee plans for new library buildings, and expansions or renovations of existing libraries. Their work is done with the Library's mission and Long-Range plan in mind. They work with library and County staff to research property, consider partnership opportunities, and prepare for future demands and changes in library services for Hillsborough County. Cultural District Liaison Ad-Hoc Subcommittee of the Planning Committee: Long-Range Planning Ad-Hoc Subcommittee of the Planning Committee: Policies and ByLaws: This committee is responsible for developing policies and by-laws for both the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library Board and the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library System. Meetings are held on an as needed basis. Internet Use Ad Hoc Subcommittee of the Policies & ByLaws Committee: This committee oversees the policies relating to use and filtering of the Internet which are adopted by the library system. Meetings are held on an as needed basis. Scheduling Ad Hoc Subcommittee of the Policies and ByLaws Committee: This committee oversees the policies relating to meeting schedules. Meetings are held on an as needed basis. Public Art Liaisons: Several Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library Board members work with the Hillsborough County Public Art Committee to assist with the selection of public art for new libraries. Nominating: In May of each year, the Chair of the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library Board appoints a three-member Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee is responsible for selecting a slate of officers. The selection is presented to the full Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library Board in June where nominations from the floor can also be received. Officers of the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library Board include Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Secretary. Officers are chosen by majority vote during the annual July meeting. No member of the board is permitted to serve more than two consecutive years in the same position.
