Vista Wireless Internet Access Setup

The visual instructions below apply specifically to Microsoft's® Windows Vista. Click an image to enlarge. Instructions may be similar for other Windows OSes.

Image: taskbar On the taskbar, look at the bottom right. You will see two monitors stacked with a red X. Mouse over the icon.

When you mouse over, a textbox will appear saying “Not Connected … Wireless networks are available.

Left click once on the icon.

Image: taskbar Text box will appear saying “ Not Connected … Wireless networks are available...Connect to a Network...Network & Sharing Center.

Mouse over on “Connect to a Network” and you will see a line appear under it. Left click once.

Connect to a Network window opens. You will see the network “HCPLC-Library” appear on the list. At this point, you might wonder why the network is unsecured. We have it unsecured so that everybody can connect to the network. Left click on the network and click on the connect button. Image: Select a Network

Image: Connect Anyway Now it will tell you that it is unsecured and ask if you want to connect Anyway. Left click on Connect Anyway.

The laptop will connect and ask if you want to save network. If the customer plans to return to the library in the future and use the wireless network, click on the checkbox to Save Network and click close. Image: Successfully Connected
