Parking Lot Expansion To Add 42 Spaces
Work on the Upper Tampa Bay Regional Public Library parking lot expansion is currently underway. The current parking lot will be open during this time. We anticipate minimal disruption and most of the existing spaces to be available. This project will add 42 new parking spaces.
About the Upper Tampa Bay Regional Public Library
The Upper Tampa Bay Regional Public Library was dedicated and opened to the public January 8, 2005. The 26,000 square foot facility offers a full range of services including books, magazines, DVDs, music, Internet access, a variety of programs and activities for children and adults, a large community room for meetings and a beautiful gazebo.
Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Upper Tampa Bay Regional Library is an active and enthusiastic citizen support group. The Friends operate the Gazebo Bookstore, located in the library's lobby. Money raised is used to fund special programs and events and to provide support for library operations. The Friends also serve as advocates for the Library System. Information about the Friends is available through the Friends of the Library Website.
The Upper Tampa Bay Regional Public Library, located on Countryway Drive just east of Racetrack Road, was dedicated on January 8, 2005. Construction of the $4.5 million building was funded by the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners and a grant from the Florida Department of State, Division of Library Services.
The Upper Tampa Bay Regional Library is enhanced by several sculptures donated by the Westfield Mall at Citrus Park. The Westchase Artists Society is the donor of the Majolica Tile Project, which is housed in the Children's Room. All other art in the library was purchased by the Friends of the Upper Tampa Bay Library, and the Friends of the Upper Tampa Bay Library Bronze Tree is located on the interior entrance wall in the lobby for all to see and appreciate. Donations for a Leaf, Acorn or Stone helps the Friends raise funds to enhance Library services.
